PASCALE OTIS
Age
27 already…
Time passes much too quickly…might as well make the most of it!
Profession
Common researcher.
Full-time mother (translation: biologist, popular science writer, Mother Goose)
Education
BSc in Biology
MSc in Biology (animal physiology)
Relevant Experience
Arctic and Antarctic, always seeking cold, me with my feet that are always frozen, (that's where I get my uncontrollable fascination with cold-resistant birds' feet)
Other
I love chocolate… a bit too much… in fact I'm crazy about it… That's my great weakness.
Personal Goals and Motivations
I am like a migrating bird, always in motion, never managing to come to rest anywhere on earth. Always taking off on another adventure… Going away, not to escape, but because there is nothing to hold me back. Meeting Jean for the first time, I instantly knew I had to do this. This is a man whose enthusiasm is visible. It's a crazy idea, a completely off-the-wall project. In a word, just what it takes to make me happy.
What I Hope to Accomplish During the Expedition
In terms of science, I would like to see more than one pair of bare feet on the ice, making this project a reality, since it has been tickling my curiosity for a long time. I’m talking about taking a deeper look at the cold-resisting mechanisms in penguins' feet.
On a personal level, being with people who share my passion for research, writing, photography, and much more…
Greatest Fears During the Expedition
Coming face-to-face with a leopard seal, or any other animal having the same unpredictable nature...
